Star Wars was a good movie...

Gaddafi Cold Open
Fred Armison’s portrayal of the Libyan leader isn’t difficult, but that doesn’t make the jokes about his UN ramblings any less funny.

New Opening Footage
Wow.  There’s not too many ladies there anymore.  But the lovely Abby Elliott looked lovely.

Megan Fox’s Monologue
Not too bad.  Mostly due to my having low expectations.

Fake Bladdivan Commercial
As a victim of chronic shy-bladder syndrome, I found this bit a bit easy.  Squirt guns? In a commercial about peeing?  Hilarious, right?

Real Starbucks Via Commercial
Can’t believe they brought up town hall shouters already…

Real Oreo Commercial
Yay for Darrell Hammond getting to spoof Donald Trump in Donald Trump’s presence!  Boo Eli Manning, for no reason.  Albeit I still gotta give him props for toppling Tom Brady.

Bad News Flight Attendants
Opened funny, via Abby and Andy Samberg. Maintained absurd humor throughout.  Liked Megan’s performance.  Plus, the return of the Kristen Wiig Counter: 1

Russian Brides
Svetlana and Katya are the brides-to-be. Svetlana is played by Fred; Katya is played by Megan.  Svetlana is $10 cheaper.  Will Forte has a hard time deciding between the two.  I decided it was comical enough.

Digital Short
Weird mismatched couple’s date is, um, weird.  But I’m beginning to think Megan has talent.  Not a classic by any means, but the performances elevated it to smile-worthy.

Grady Wilson’s Burning Up the Bedsheets
Kenan Thompson’s first appearance is a bit lewd.  Surprisingly lewd.  But surprisingly silly, to the point that I did laugh.

U2’s First Performance
Does their longevity in the music industry have to do with their talent, or the fact that l33t became mainstream through IMing, texting, and now Tweeting?

(SIDENOTE: I just noticed the 35 in SNL’s logo.  Man, Lorne Michaels must be old.)

Weekend Update
It’s strange to watch this without Amy Poehler, especially since she was there on Thursday… Kristen still impresses the hell out of me with her Judy Grimes… just-kidding.  Wiig Counter: 2

Live Lounge
Spoof of modern phone sex lines that’s spot-on AKA easy. Wiig Counter: 3

U2’s Second Performance
…is background noise to me right now.  I just was trying to update my iPhone so it would have MMS (pictures in text messages), and it crashed and had to restore – to an earlier backup!  I need to figure out how to get back a bunch of shit I bought!

Biker Chick Chat
New girl’s skit.  New Wayne’s World? Probably not.  DID SHE JUST SAY FUCKING?!  Rewind.  YES!  At least we know it’s live… Wiig Counter: 4

Digital Short (another one?)
Optimus Prime is Megan’s roommate.  Or is he?  Best skit of the night.  Save doucheBAG… BAG = Brian Austin Green Not a coincidence, me thinks…

Your Mom Talks to Megan Fox While You Finish Getting Ready
Probably how it would go down in real life. Kristen sells it, as usual, and increases her Wiig Counter to 6.  Wait, it’s only 5? Slow night.  But conversely, Megan was in almost all – a rarity for hosts, it seems, and amazingly, she’s held her own

FINAL DECISION: Not as strong as last season’s John Malkovich’s episode, but better than most.  Why is Bono swinging around on a microphone?  And how much is new girl’s fricking FUCK gonna cost?

Just to let you know, not even I expect anyone to watch television live on a Friday.  Therefore, everything discussed is for DVR.

8:00pm EST

I got nothing for you.

9:00pm EST

Crusoe NBC – Last week we met Crusoe, his friend on the island Friday, some pirates, and some Spanish guys.  The pirates and the Spanish guys united to try and find a treasure on the island, and Crusoe and Friday tried to stop them.  We also got minimal back story on the characters.  If the show follows that format, I feel we are doomed for a episode of nothing but back story.

Life NBC– A quirky cop, who was falsely accused of murder, and a hot partner, Sarah Shahi (pictured above).

Numb3rs CBS – Math and crime solving, I dare you to find a better combination.

***Note – Please post a comment, I am begging here.

News and Rumors

While waiting for Survivor to start, I spent some time on www.ew.com

Nathan Lane is signed on to appear in ‘Till Death as Brad Garrett’s character’s gay brother.

Dan Byrd, that kid from Aliens in America on CW, is going to appear in Heroes Volume 4: Fugitives on NBC.

Macaulay Culkin is going to be on Kings on NBC.  Also to to appear are Brian Cox, Miguel Ferrer, Michael Stahl-David, and Leslie Bibb.  The show is Starring Ian Mcshane, Allison Miller, Sebastian Stan, and Susanna Thompson.

The World Series won Wednesday’s ratings battle.  Dirty Sexy Money was down slightly, while Pushing Daisies, Knight Rider, and Lipstick Jungle were all down more significantly.  Gary Unmarried had a slight gain, while The New Adventures of Old Christine, Private Pracice, Criminal Minds, and CSI: NY all had either increases or stayed strong.

Back by popular demand…not really, I just have nothing else to do but write this.

8:00pm EST

World Series Fox – Is it bad, that it is only game 2, and I am already bored?  I guess it is true, you really do need big market teams in the finals.

Survivor: Gabon (Live) CBS – Tonight, according to the previews, Sugar is going to give the immunity idol to Ace.  I am sure this will be ripped on discussed tomorrow.

My Name Is Earl (DVR) NBC – This would be my least favorite NBC Thursday night comedy if it weren’t for Kath & Kim (DVR) – This show has potential.  It just depends if it will make it long enough to reach that potential.

9:00pm EST

The Office (Live) NBC – Best NBC comedy. Not quite as good as the BBC version (I must confess, there is something very funny about British comedy, maybe it is the accents).

SNL Update (Live) NBC (9:30) – Is it wrong that I look forward to Saturday Night Live more on Thursdays than on Saturdays?

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (DVR) CBS – Some of you may know, this is the only CSI that I count.  The others are not even on my radar.

10:00pm EST

ER (DVR) NBC – Like many people I watched in the beginning and fell off for awhile.  This is the last season so I am watching again.  Plus I have a thing for Linda Cardellini (pictured above).

Eleventh Hour (DVR) CBS– To be honest with you, I have not watched an episode yet but they are saved on my DVR.  One day I will get to them and see if I should keep it in the rotation.

Life on Mars (Live) ABC– I love this show.  That’s a lie, I am cautiously optimistic of this show.  I am a little confused.  How long can  they carry this, stuck in the past from a concussion thing, going on?  If they figure that out, without some crazy Lost like explanation, then I will love this show.

*** Note – you know the drill comment and we discuss it next time….someone please comment.

Wednesday’s TV Picks

Posted in TV with tags , , , , , , , , on October 22, 2008 by tvismyiv
This photo is from Playboy, but I don't think she has ever posed nude.

This photo is from playboy

No one reads this blog, yet, so the picks for today are for me.  I will check this site and remember what I need to watch tonight.

Wednesday is hump day so, we are going to keep it simple and watch ESPN all day.  There will surely be coverage of the World Series, sprinkled with some NFL injury reports.  In the evening we are going to go with baseball.

8:00pm EST

World Series (Live) Fox – Even if you don’t like baseball you have to at least watch the Series.

Pushing Daisies (DVR) ABC – This show visually looks like something out of a Dr. Seuss book.  The concept is original and the story lines are intriging enough to keep me watching.

Knight Rider (DVR) NBC – The Hoff isn’t in this one (except for a brief appearance in the tv movie last year) but it still is pretty good.  K.I.T.T. is amazing in this, probably, the best acting I have seen in years.  Oh, and the eye candy isn’t so bad either (maybe my favorite of the fall season), Deanna Russo (pictured above), who plays Sara.

9:00pm EST

Myth Busters (Live) Discovery Channel – I know I am suppose to be watching MLB but that can wait (the middle innings can be pretty boring sometimes).  In this episode they are testing to see if beer goggles exist.  This will either drastically decrease how much I spend at the bar or increase how many drinks I buy the Ladies.

Ghost Hunters (DVR) Sci Fi –  I can say they have never shown anything that proved the existence of ghost but they have shown some pretty unexplainable stuff.

10:00pm EST

Dirty Sexy Money (DVR) ABC –  This show is about a wealthy family that always seems to be getting in trouble.  The family lawyer and the family patriarch have to get the family out of trouble.  The father wants to just throw money at the problem and the lawyer is always being pushed to his moral limits.  I enjoy this show because it really does show how we, billionaires, sometimes get into trouble but for the most part are just normal people.

Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Island (DVR) MTV –  How can anyone resist a spin off of the original reality tv show.  With all the drunk 20 somethings running around stabbing each other in the back, crazy antics are sure to ensue.

***Note – since you are the only one that reads this, only the shows you like are on here so there is no need to post other ideas

Tuesday’s Tv Picks

Posted in TV with tags , , , , , , , on October 21, 2008 by tvismyiv

As some of you know we at tvismyiv watch tv so you don’t have to but if you insist on watching for your self we also tell you recommend the shows you should watch.

For those of us with no life no job extra free time you all know your daily viewing.  We start the day with the Today Show or The Early Show or Good Morning America.  Then we move on to The People’s Court and the millions of other arbitrator judge shows.  Some move on to the day time talk shows, or the soaps, or the once classic, Price is Right (Damn you Drew Carey).  Others, who pretend to be sophisticated care about the world, will spend some time on CNN or FoxNews.  Then we watch our Dr. Phil and Opra and the such.  But on this site we will focus on the evening tv viewing.

Today at 6:00pm EST I am going to recommend Cash Cab on Discovery Channel and at 6:30 another Cash Cab.  Then at 7:00 Wheel of Fortune on NBC and at 7:30 Jeopardy

8:00pm EST

House (Live) Fox – If you don’t like house get off my site right now…seriously get off my site.  Yes, I know, Hugh Laurie is British and on the show he has an American ascent.  Yes, I also know, it follows the same format every show (House gets a case, doesnt want it, something interests him so he takes it, they run test after test, can not figure it out, something sparks a revalation and case solved) but Olivia Wilde II ‘Thirteen’ (pictured above) is smokin (also not to go all “Flesh of the Stars” but I am pretty sure she got naked in Alpha Dog).

The Biggest Loser: Families NBC – Spoiler Alert…The biggest loser family is….are you ready…go to your family picture album and there they are….hahaha….what not funny…sorry…you know what, no, I am not sorry.

90210 CWTV – I loved the orginal but seriously this show can not be good…I tend to have a bit of nastalgia about my younger years but not that bad.

9:00pm EST

Fringe (Live) Fox – This might be the best new show of the season.  My only problem with it is that Anna Torv is hot sometimes and ugly other times…it kinda freaks me out.

The Mentalist (DVR) CBS – This show may be the worst new show of the season, however, I am still giving it a chance.  It seems to be a non funny version of Psych and that show is great so if my math is correct this show should be great minus the funny.

10:00pm EST

Law and Order: SVU (DVR) NBC – To be honest with you, with all the sick people in the world, that they base these criminals on, it is a very morbid show. The worst part is that a majority of those criminals may have been based on my ex roommate.

Eli Stone ABC – Isn’t this show a musical?????  There is no way I am watching that.  I saw a musical once and I don’t think that adult video company is in business anymore.

***note – as always any other shows that you want discussed, just comment, and we will do our best, but our best is already posted.

Monday’s TV Picks

So Hot

This photo courtesy of a Vanity Fair photo shoot

We at tvismyiv want to make sure you watch what you need to watch.  Each day we will post what you should watch live (keep in mind live means dvr and start watching once you can fast forward through the commercials which is usually 15 per one hour long show), dvr, and if we don’t mention it don’t watch it.

If you are like me you have the tv on 24/7, but for those of you with jobs you will start around 6:00pm EST: leave it on ESPN. Tonight’s match up may have been good if Tom Brady was playing and the Patriots were the Patriots of old (old being last year when they couldn’t be stopped by anyone except Manning, and not Peyton, Eli in the Super Bowl). It is still Monday Night Football and you should at least listen to the pregame as they try and hype up this awful match up.  I will be skipping the actual game tonight in favor of other programming.

8:00pm EST

Big Bang Theory (live) CBS– This show really appeals to the nerd in all of us, or to those of us that pretend we are totally awesome but are really just geeks.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (DVR) FOX – This show is constantly rumored to be getting cancelled but I like it because of Summer Glau (photo at top).

Dancing with the Stars ABC – Even I am not that big of a loser.  If you watch this you are either a chick, a man forced by a chick (can you say whipped), a man that enjoys the company of other men, or a certain poster at www.monkeyblogmonkeydo.com (don’t get me wrong great blog just the guy may be a bigger loser than me….maybe)

Chuck (DVR/Live) NBC – Watch Big Bang Theory then go right over to Chuck.  Apparently Nicole Richie is on tonight and that interests me.  Could she be the shark that Chuck is going to jump?  I watch this show because it is a one hour comedy and who doesn’t watch a half hour sitcom and want more like Thanksgiving dinner.  Also there are always lovely coeds on (Nicole Richie excluded).

8:30pm EST

How I Met Your Mother (DVR) CBS – This show has become pretty popular and I haven’t fully committed to it so I dvr it and watch it when I have time.  I then can fit in at the bar when everyone talks about television shows (what do you mean that not what happens at bars…that explains why the lady friends always give me the cold shoulder).

9:00pm EST

Heroes (DVR) NBC – I know most people watch this live or at least the same night but we recommend recording several and waiting a few weeks and watching several at once.  Trust me, it is like watching one of those comic book movies that have become so popular in recent years.

Two and a Half Men (DVR) CBS – See How I Met Your Mother

Prison Break (DVR) FOX – This show got me hooked when they were actually breaking out of prison.  Now they are chasing some black book of some “company” that runs the world.  The writers of this show are started to be as bad as Mel Gibson in “Conspiracy Theory”.

10:00pm EST

My Own Worst Enemy (DVR) NBCChristian Slater on tv enough said.

Boston Legal (DVR) ABCMurphy Brown and Captain Kirk in a show about legal stuff…I watch periodically but don’t plan on me talking about it often.

CSI: Miami CBS – There is only one CSI in my book and that is one takes place in a little place called Las Vegas.

Raising the Bar (DVR) TNT – Anything with Zach Morris and I am there.  Just like when he was on “the Blue” I will watch every episode waiting for Albert Clifford “AC” Slater and Samuel “Screech” Powers to come help him out.

11:00pm EST

ESPN (Live) – Time to see if Jay Cutler got me the 90 points I need to win my Fantasy Football match up….it could happen….stop laughing….

***note – if you have a show you would like us to talk about post a comment and we will try, unless the show is awful in which case we will just make fun of that show and you.
